Expo 2020 Will Help Pave The Way For The UAE's Tourism Industry.

In January of this year, the Middle East is expected to add 22 projects totaling 6,401 rooms to its hospitality industry. The hospitality industry in the United Arab Emirates is gearing up for a record-breaking year in 2021, as the country sets to host one of the world's largest international exhibitions.

Analysts in tourism and hospitality offered a positive image of continuous rebound of the business hotels in Dubai from the Covid-19 pandemic, which would likely to rise until October 1, 2021, when Dubai opens its doors to the public for the mega-event Expo 2020 Dubai.

“If the global pandemic situation has improved further by October 2021, which is a plausible possibility,” said Mister Nicolas Mayer, worldwide industry leader for Tourism & Hospitality at PwC. “Expo 2020 will be one of the first and most significant moments globally to reconnect the world, digitally and physically,” he added.

“Let’s assume that the situation will continue to normalize, the opening of Expo 2020 in October 2021 will have an extra catalytic impact, increasing visitor arrivals in the best hotels in downtown Dubai and the rest of the United Arab Emirates. This is especially intriguing because Expo will run six months, resulting in a better spread of tourists over a longer length of time - providing for any physical distancing requirements that may be required in the process.”

He went on to say that the event's assembly is pretty much perfect. “An event that lasted a long time, spanned a large region, and was already backed by all of the participants that worked on it before the Covid-19 pandemic. I believe it will be a defining moment in the post-pandemic tourism environment, especially if involved countries and organizations provide products and experiences that allow the public to contemplate on the nature of our planet and their lives in the post-pandemic era.”

“In recent months, officials have highlighted the significance of tourism in the UAE economy's recovery and growth, and the initiatives to encourage us have been tremendous,” said Mister Tim Cordon, Radisson's area senior vice president for the Middle East and Africa region.

“Over the past few months, the best 5-star hotels in Dubai and other emirates in the UAE have benefited from domestic demand, and the country's and its leaders' continued efforts have resulted in a surge of international tourists during the holiday period. Thinking forwards to 2021, the Expo Dubai, which will take place from October 2021 to March 2022, has a lot of potential for the sector and will ideally attract both Middle Eastern and international tourists.”

The year 2021 is off to a great start, with 434 hotel projects and 81,792 rooms set to open in January throughout the world, according to the Top Hotel Projects development database. From a region-by-region perspective, Europe leads the way with 185 hotels and 31,814 rooms, North America Is the second with 136 new properties and 23,742 rooms.

The Middle East's hospitality industry will be bolstered by 22 projects totaling 6,401 rooms. With six projects planned for this month, Dubai is among the top five cities for the growth of the hotel industry.

There will surely be numerous changes to which the hotel industry will have to adjust, according to Tim Cordon. There are questions about when to go, where to visit, and how long to travel because consumers' perceptions of travel have altered dramatically as a result of the epidemic.

“To provide as much planning flexibility as possible is our goal. As a result, we alleviate this by offering flexible cancellation and re-booking policies in place, as well as guaranteeing that we have the proper protocols in place to put our visitors at ease. On the contrary, by maintaining and improving sanitary standards around the world, we are guaranteeing that we live up to our pledge.

Cleanliness and safety will be prioritized in the post-Covid-19 age. Brands, in our opinion, have a tremendous opportunity to stand firm and clearly express their brand values and positions to people. Customers must trust your brand, as well as your support and commitment to safety and health, and that you will follow through on your brand promise,” he stated.
